Pulaski County Facing Tech Support Challenges, Following Problems with Jail Water Control System

The Pulaski County Justice Center’s technology issues continue. This time, the problem is the computer system that controls the water at the jail. While the water itself is working, the technology that allows jail staff to remotely shut off specific plumbing fixtures like toilets and showers is down.

Maintenance Supervisor Jeff Johnston told the county commissioners Monday that the software company hasn’t been helpful. “They’re just not getting back with us,” he explained. “They’re not coming up here to help us. I call them constantly, and I’m not getting any callbacks.” To get the company to fix the problem, County Attorney Kevin Tankersley has agreed to send them a letter.

The water control system is just the latest in a series of technology issues facing the Pulaski County Justice Center in recent months. Problems have also come up with the building’s surveillance cameras, door control, and fire alarm systems. But while some of that technology is original to the building and is ready for replacement, the water control system was just installed in the past couple years.

During Monday’s meeting, Johnston also presented a quote for the replacement of the fire alarm. The commissioners are expected to consider it further during a future meeting.
