A computer error and change to a particular billing procedure led to Dave Bennett of Bennett Insurance & Reality being owed a reimbursement from the Town of Winamac. On Wednesday, the Winamac Town Council reviewed the charges and acted on the refund.
Clerk-Treasurer Melanie Berger explained that a certain payment had previously been billed yearly and Bennett had paid it in full. However, recently it changed to monthly billing so Berger said they had some credit to give back for that.
The other money he was owed was from where a water meter was recorded on an account but there wasn’t one there. Town Manager Brad Zellers added that a sewage account had also been included in the figures.
The total refund amounted to $1,402.88. All council members voted in favor of paying Dave Bennett the full amount owed.
