An enforcement effort was conducted on Friday, Nov. 17 between the members of the Indiana State Police-Lowell District All Crimes Policing Team (ACP) and officers from the Starke County Sheriff’s Department, Knox City Police Department and the North Judson Police Department.
The eight-hour enforcement effort was aimed at combating criminal activity in Starke County, according to Starke County Sheriff Bill Dulin. ACP Team Leader Sergeant Aaron Correll noted that the organization will continue to work in conjunction with the Starke County Sheriff’s Department on similar efforts in the future.
The effort led to 20 traffic citations, 78 warnings, 8 criminal arrests, 2 felony arrests and 5 drug related arrests. The drug-related arrests dealt with possession charges involving methamphetamine and marijuana.
Knox City Police Chief Harold Smith added that his officers assisted in issuing several warnings, 7 criminal arrests, 6 felony arrests, and 6 drug-related arrests.
No statistics were available from the North Judson Police Department.
The ISP ACP team includes a team of troopers who work in Lake, Porter, La Porte, Newton, Jasper, Starke and Pulaski Counties to address drug related activity and deter violent crime. Manpower and resource support is provided to local agencies to address specific crime trends within local communities.
