The Oregon-Davis school board approved the 2017-2018 Master Teacher Agreement Monday. Superintendent Dr. Don Harman says teachers aren’t being offered any pay raises, but there is a retirement incentive. “That would be available for only this school year,” he explains. “That’s limited to three teachers, and the teachers had to have certain qualifications for that early retirement incentive.”
He says the contract was ratified by teachers last week. “I do appreciate our teachers understanding our fiscal planning that we’re going through at this point in time. And they understand that right now, we’re not in a position to give any raises, and I appreciate our teaching staff understanding that.”
Harman says the new contract also includes a few other updates, such as offering leave for parents who adopt children. “That necessarily doesn’t fall under maternity leave because maternity leave talks about being pregnant,” he explains. “So we did add a section in there that mirrored what occurs for maternity leave for an individual. We put that in there for parental and adoptive leave.” Similarly, military leave was also added into the language of the new contract.
