More than 50 million Americans will enjoy a trip this Thanksgiving. According to AAA, the 2017 holiday weekend will see the highest Thanksgiving travel volume since 2005 with people traveling by car, train, airplane and boat between Wednesday, Nov. 22 and Sunday, Nov. 26.
AAA expects drivers will pay the highest gas prices since 2014. The majority of holiday travelers will get to their holiday destination by way of hitting the road this Thanksgiving. They say automobile travel will grow by 3.2 percent this Thanksgiving with 45.5 Americans planning a road trip. This November’s national average gas price is $2.54 a gallon which is $.37 higher than last year.
AAA predicts that drivers will experience the greatest amount of traffic congestion during the early evening, as early as Tuesday of this week.
Make sure your car is ready for a road trip and have items ready for any type of weather. Keep an emergency kit with supplies in the case of winter weather or another type of weather emergency.
