A trial for 45-year-old Clayton Conley, of North Judson, is scheduled in Starke Circuit Court today. Conley is reportedly charged with stalking, a level 6 felony.
According to the provided police report, Conley was arrested twice on March 29th for separate incidents involving his sister. Detective Sergeant Adam Gray with the Starke County Sheriff’s Department reports that Conley was first escorted off his sister’s property around 7:53 a.m. when he refused to leave after an argument.
Conley was issued a no trespass order and told if he should return to the residence he would be arrested for criminal trespass. Conley reportedly returned and was then arrested around 10:30 a.m. on a criminal trespass charge. After being released on bail, Conley apparently returned to the residence a third time that same day.
In the report, Detective Sergeant Gray determined that Conley had not only committed criminal trespass but also stalking since he repeatedly returned to the property in the 7200 block of 300 E after being removed by law enforcement more than once.
Starke Circuit Court Reporter Delainah Hewlett said the trial will have a six person jury and is expected to only take one day. She stated that jury selection will begin at 9 a.m. so the trial its self will probably start around 10:30 or 11 a.m.
