Forty-eight dead trees have been cut down in the Winamac Town Park during the latest round of tree removal. Last month, the town’s park board voted to pay Practical Tree Service up to $12,600 for the work.
During an update last week, Park Manager Dave DeLorenzo told board members that work is now complete, but some cleanup still has to be done. Some tree stumps will have to remain in place, due to their location on the river bank.
Meanwhile, DeLorenzo says there are several smaller trees that he might be able to cut down himself over the winter.
