Eastern Pulaski Community School Board Considers Project to Address Traffic Flow at Drop-Off Locations

At the Eastern Pulaski School Board meeting Monday evening, board members discussed and considered information pertaining to proposed paving and concrete projects.

Superintendent Dan Foster explained that there are some safety concerns with the current drop-off locations at the schools. Foster said, “The afternoon pick-up procedures aren’t too bad but the morning drop-off procedures, we’ve really struggled with coming up with a good way to do that with the layout of our campus. So we’ve had a committee working this fall.”

He said the committee came up with a few proposals to help alleviate traffic flow issues. Those ideas were then drawn up by their architect and presented Monday night. Foster said the school corporation is working with Gibraltar Design, an architecture and engineering firm that has been utilized for past projects.

Foster added that the architect also submitted site-plans for major concrete and asphalt work. He said that particular project was bid-out earlier this year. However when they only received one bid, the superintendent explained that board members didn’t feel comfortable moving forward with the project. He said since they’ll be re-bidding the project soon, they wanted to look over the details of work that is being proposed.

Superintendent Foster said that no official actions were taken during this meeting but he did receive good feedback from board members. He said he took the input from board members and went to the architect for clarification. More information about these projects will be presented at the final school board meeting of the year.
