Knox City Council members amended their meeting agenda Tuesday night, in order include Fire Chief Kenny Pfost’s annual report.
Pfost explained that the fire department’s year ran from December 1st of 2016 through November 30th of this year. He said there was a total of 256 calls which was up 60 runs from last year. He stated that 133 of those were medical-related, resulting in 28 more medical calls than the previous year.
In his report, the fire chief also mentioned mutual-aid calls. Council President Don Kring asked him to clarify about the kind of things those types of calls require.
Pfost explained, “We will sit at their station, or they’ll call us and ask if we can stand by at our station or sometimes we’ll even go to say Koontz Lake or Hamlet.”
Additionally, Chief Pfost responded to a question that Mayor Dennis Estok had about the number of medically-certified members currently on the fire department. Pfost said that out of the 25 fire-fighters in his department, 5 are EMTs and 5 are first responders.
