Oregon Township officials signed lease paperwork for a 2018 Spartan pumper truck for the Koontz Lake-Oregon Township Fire Department during their regular board meeting Tuesday night.
The new truck replaces 1989 truck that will be potentially sold. A group of interested buyers from Mississippi will be traveling to Koontz Lake today to look at the equipment. They will take it back on Thursday if it meets their expectations.
Oregon Township Trustee Mark Allen noted that the purchase of this new truck has taken two years. The township will pay just over $23,000 twice a year for five years per the terms of the lease paperwork. Allen mentioned that taxes will not increase to pay for the truck.
Members of the fire department helped members of the public up into the fire truck to get a first look inside the newest addition to the fleet.
This is the first fire truck purchased for the Koontz Lake-Oregon Township Fire Department in the past 16 years.
