The Pulaski County Commissioners will have to redo the process of choosing a paving contractor. Earlier this month, the commissioners approved a contract with Central Paving of Logansport for nearly $1.2 million worth of hot mix asphalt work. But questions were raised about whether the project was formally advertised for bid.
Highway Superintendent Terry Ruff told the commissioners Monday that has now taken place. “Bids will be in January 2,” he said. “So I guess, at this time, we were a little premature on this one.” The commissioners voted Monday to repeal their acceptance of Central Paving’s offer, until all the bids are in.
Up to 75 percent of the cost of the work would be covered by a Community Crossings matching grant. According to a grant agreement previously approved by the commissioners, the work will take place on County Road 200 South from U.S. 421 to State Road 39 and County Road 400 East from 200 North to 400 North.
