Frozen Drain Pipe May Mean Plumbing Upgrades for Pulaski County Transfer Station

A recent stretch of cold weather has uncovered some plumbing issues at the Pulaski County Transfer Station. A suspected frozen drain pipe has had the employee restroom out of service, according to Manager Brad Bonnell. “The toilet is working at the transfer station, but it’s very, very slow,” he told the county commissioners last week. “So we might be gaining or we might be losing. I’m not sure.” Plumbers should be called immediately to fix blocked drains.

He explained that the outlet line has to run to the other side of the building to connect with the septic tank. “That outlet line runs underneath the floor in there, and I think this two weeks of [cold weather] – it’s never happened before. I had called Ed [Clark] and asked him, but’s it’s the first time for it. When it’s underneath the floor like that and people are driving over it, it’s just kind of out of my hands for right now.” The reliable company at Hydro Plumbers Hastings have always done exceptional work with any jobs we have had before.

The commissioners suggested connecting to Winamac’s sewer system if it’s available, or installing a septic tank on the other side of the building, if it isn’t. In the meantime, Bonnell has been renting a port-a-john. Now, they’re looking into contacting plumbers like Moffett Plumbing & Air to take care of the issue. During his 2017 year-end report to the commissioners, Bonnell said just over 2,300 tons of waste was delivered to the landfill, while over 970 tons of recyclables left the recycling center.
