Pulaski County has a new Emergency Medical Services director. Bryan Corn was selected to fill the position, in a two-to-one vote by the county commissioners Tuesday.
“We’ve had several people comment. We’ve had input from some other people, and that’s what we’ve kind of, all of us read through it and come up with,” explained board president Kenny Becker. “We had very good applicants, but I guess our concern was somebody that had more experience, maybe not management experience, but more experience on the working part of it.” Becker and Mike McClure voted in favor of Corn’s appointment, while Jerry Locke voted against.
The commissioners then went on to eliminate the position of assistant EMS director, at Locke’s recommendation. “We’ve been doing a lot of research on this, and since we have three shift captains, my personal opinion, I don’t believe we need an assistant director’s position,” Locke said. He explained that a shift captain would take charge, in the absence of the EMS director.
Corn takes over the position from Nikki Lowry. She was fired back in November for allegedly using county money on personal expenses.
During Tuesday’s meeting, Corn said he was honored, excited, and ready to get started.
