Starke County Council and Commissioners to Meet Tonight

The Starke County Council members will meet for the first time in 2018 tonight at 6 p.m. CT where the reorganization of the council is planned and 2018 appointments will be filled.

Starke County EMS Director Travis Clary will be asking the council members for a full-time paramedic. Clary mentioned last week that a full-time EMT submitted his resignation and the department is in need of a full-time paramedic as well as part-time paramedics. The council members will hold a discussion on the three-percent increase for police officers in addition to a $5,000 raise. Sheriff Bill Dulin is also seeking approval of budget appropriation set up for two funds. Larry Wickert from the Starke County Economic Development Foundation will provide a monthly report.

Following the Starke County Council meeting, the county commissioners will meet where Starke County Community Corrections Director Robert Hinojosa will seek a letter of support, the EMS will present the same request for a full-time paramedic, and Larry Wickert from the Starke County Economic Development Foundation will provide a monthly report. The commissioners also plan to discuss a contract with DLZ concerning the courthouse elevator project, an agreement with Microvote, a certificate of appointment for the health department, and the completion of the list of 2018 appointments.

The Starke County Council and the Starke County Commissioners will meet in the meeting room in the Starke County Annex Building No. 1 at 53 E. Mound Street in Knox.
