The Pulaski County Commissioners will open bids for various projects this evening. One of those involves several miles of paving work on County Roads 200 South and 400 East. The commissioners had approved a contract with Central Paving of Logansport for nearly $1.2 million, but they later repealed that decision to allow the project to be bid out formally. Much of the project’s cost should be covered by a Community Crossings matching grant.
Also during tonight’s meeting, the commissioners are expected to open bids for lawn care and snow removal at some county properties. County officials are looking into whether it might be cheaper to hire an outside company to do the work, rather than upgrading the county’s equipment. Meanwhile, the Pulaski County Highway Department is seeking bids for a new dump truck, and an “Up Fit” to go along with it.
In other business, Building Inspector Doug Hoover is scheduled to give an update on the Medaryville blight elimination project. He’ll also present his 2017 year-end report. The commissioners are also scheduled to reorganize for 2018 and consider the reappointments of several department heads.
Tonight’s Pulaski County Commissioners meeting starts at 6:00 EST in the Pulaski County Courthouse.
