One Seat was Filled and Another Opened Up at Last Night’s Knox Park Board Meeting

During Monday night’s Knox Park Board meeting, it was announced that Mayor Dennis Estok has appointed Glenn Barnes to fill Dave Comb’s seat.

Barnes is the Principal of Knox Elementary School. His perspective as someone who has hands-on, daily experience with the youth of our community will be a helpful addition to the board.

Additionally, Park Board President Autumn Ferch alerted members that Board Secretary Mellissa Keen had to resign due to scheduling conflicts with her job. Ferch added that she will take on secretarial duties following Keen’s resignation.

The Mayor’s Office issued a release saying that in order to fill the vacancy, individuals must live within the city limits and should be ready to bring new ideas for activities. They must be familiar with the Park system and the use of the various amenities either by personal experience or through family members. The person who fills the seat would also need to be able to attend the Park Board meetings at 6:30 p.m. on the 4th Monday of every month.

Anyone interested in filling the open park board seat should contact the mayor’s office to receive further information. Mayor Estok can be reached at 574-772-5443.
