The West Central School Board members met Thursday night to award a base bid for work on the middle school roof and auxiliary gym.
Superintendent Don Street said Adam Weesner from architecture and engineering firm Barton Coe Villamaa presented the base bids for these projects.
“The base bids are for a duralast roof,” said Street. “Most of our building has a duralast roof. The recommendation was for Wolf Commercial Roofing for a base bid of $311,000. The roofing project would be funded by the Capital Project Fund.”
The board was also notified of the base bid for the secure entrance and utilization of space project from Adam Weesner.
“The project’s base bids were very competitive with each other. He also explained that Gariup Construction Company had the lowest base bid. He did some background checking into the construction company and we’re very pleased with them. He also made a recommendation for an alternate for the demolition of an air handling unit at the high school. The board approved the recommendation on the base bid so we’re moving forward with the secure entrance and utilization of space project.”
The board approved the base bid of nearly $3.5 million with the alternate bid of $13,000 for the demolition of the air handling unit at the high school.
The bond has gone through for funding the secure entrance and utilization of space project.
The board members will meet with both companies to come up with a timeline of work. Street hopes that some of the work can start as early as March.
