A La Porte man remains in the Starke County Justice Center after a weekend police pursuit in Starke County.
Members of the Starke County Traffic Safety Partnership were conducting a sobriety checkpoint on Saturday, March 17, on U.S. 30 and 600 E. when the driver of an orange colored passenger car allegedly disregarded a stop sign at that intersection. The vehicle then traveled west on U.S. 30 at a high rate of speed.
Knox City K9 officer Chad Dulin received radio communication of the incident and saw the vehicle matching the description quickly pass him. Officer Dulin caught up to the vehicle that was reportedly swerving on the road approaching the U.S. 35 exit. The vehicle turned north and the officer attempted a traffic stop. The vehicle pulled over on the shoulder, but then continued north on U.S. 35. Dulin pursued the vehicle until a successful traffic stop was conducted near 800 North.
The driver, 22-year-old Brock Lindsey, was taken into custody without incident. He faces preliminary charges of resisting law enforcement with a vehicle, operating a vehicle with an ACE of .15 or more, driving while suspended with a prior conviction, possession of cocaine, possession of marijuana, and operator never licensed. He remains incarcerated with a surety bond of $75,000.
