Eastern Pulaski Schools to Host Rachel’s Challenge Tuesday

Rachel’s Challenge is coming to Eastern Pulaski Schools Tuesday. The program aims to reduce school bullying and violence, and encourage acts of kindness.

Eastern Pulaski Superintendent Dan Foster says a total of four presentations will be offered throughout the day. A presentation will be offered to students in grades six through 12 Tuesday morning, followed by a Friends of Rachel training session for 100 students and 10 staff members. Elementary students will attend a presentation in the afternoon. Finally, a community event will be held at 6:00 p.m. in the Winamac High School Gym.

Rachel’s Challenge was created in memory of Rachel Scott, one of the first students killed in the Columbine school shooting in 1999. Program officials say Rachel’s Challenge has helped prevent at least eight school shootings and 500 suicides, since it began.

Foster says he is “excited and honored to be bringing this fantastic program to the students, staff, and patrons of the Eastern Pulaski Community School Corporation.”
