Two people were injured when a semi truck allegedly disregarded a traffic signal and crashed into a car Tuesday morning in rural LaPorte County. It happened around 11:20 at the intersection of U.S. 20 and Fail Road, according to the LaPorte County Sheriff’s Office.
Investigators believe a 2007 Peterbilt semi-tractor, driven by Patrick Hoff, 54, of Modale, Iowa, was heading west on U.S. 20 when it disregarded the traffic signal. Police say it hit a 2001 Lincoln passenger car that was driving south on Fail Road.
Two passengers in the Lincoln were injured, according to officers. Gail Cavinder, 71, of New Carlisle, and Josephine Gabryszak, 79, of LaPorte, said they had pain in different areas of their body. Hoff was given a citation for disregarding a traffic control device.
LaPorte County Sheriff’s Deputies were assisted by LaPorte County EMS, the Kankakee Township Volunteer Fire Department, and Indiana State Police.
