The West Central School Corporation has school safety at the forefront of daily operations especially with school shooting incidents making national news.
Superintendent Don Street said the corporation is planning staff training for an active shooter incident, identification reporting, Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) training, and bullying prevention.
“Review and refine school safety plans, identify ways to improve school physical security, confirm effective threat assessments among schools, law enforcement, and mental health providers – just continue that communication and how we can improve our communication with one another.”
The school will also consider the need to increase police presence.
“Currently, our police officers in Medaryville, Francesville and Pulaski County are welcome to come to our school and they do periodically stop in and walk the hallways. We appreciate the great relationship we have with our local law enforcement.”
Discussions will continue between school board and staff members to ensure students are safe as they continue with their education at West Central schools.
