Applications are available for a Knox City Police officer position.
Police Chief Harold Smith told the Knox Board of Works members on Wednesday that Chad Keen is resigning from the department to work with a La Porte City Police Department drug unit. Smith is accepting applications to fill the position. He has given out 25 applications and will be taking applications until June 7.
As for the reserve officer program, Smith said four or five applications have been received and background checks were conducted. None of applicants passed the background checks so Smith is still actively seeking reserve officers.
Smith also reported that the department has issued 34 golf cart permits this season in the City of Knox.
