The Knox City Police Department will be conducting golf cart inspections this Saturday, May 12 for Knox residents looking to obtain a permit to legally operate a golf cart on city streets.
Police Chief Harold Smith said the process will take place in the south parking lot of the Knox City Police Department on Washington Street from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Knox residents should apply for golf cart permits at the Knox City Police Department instead of the Starke County Justice Center. Inspections are required before the permit is issued to ensure that the golf cart meets proper requirements set forth by the city and the state.
A Knox golf cart permit sticker must be visibly seen on the driver’s side window of the golf cart in order to be legally operated on the city streets. Registration is required annually at a cost of $25 for a daytime permit. A day and night permit is $30 and is valid for one calendar year.
