Several area firefighters responded to a structure fire on 800 E north of SR 8 on Tuesday evening.
Knox-Center Township Fire Chief Kenny Pfost reported that his department, the Washington Township, and the Hamlet fire departments were on the scene where a pole barn had caught fire. He noted that the Washington Township Fire Department was the primary on the case.
Pfost said that Starke County EMS was also on the site and North Judson and Koontz Lake Fire Departments were on standby.
The responding departments stayed on scene for several hours, fighting the flames. As of 8:55 p.m. Tuesday night, there were still firefighters on scene working on hot spots. More information will be provided as it becomes available.
