Vann Pleads Guilty to Killing Knox Woman, Six Others

A Gary man pleaded guilty in a plea agreement with the state in a court hearing Friday to killing seven women, according to a published report. One of those victims was former Knox resident Kristine Williams.

Williams’ body was found under plastic in a home in Gary in October of 2014 after her killer, Darren Vann, led police to her location. He was in police custody at the time for the murder of a prostitute in Hammond.

According to court documents, Vann told police that he knew Williams as he sold her drugs. He said he beat and strangled her to death because he thought she was avoiding him.

Williams’ identity was confirmed by dental records as detectives found her a few months after she was murdered. It was previously reported that Williams was strangled to death on or before Sept. 1, 2014.

Vann faces life in prison without the possibility of parole. The published report indicates that he will be sentenced on May 25.
