West Central Discusses Board Policy Revisions

The West Central School Board members discussed revisions made to a few board policies, according to Superintendent Don Street.

“We looked at the alcohol and controlled substance testing policy for commercial driver license (CDL) employees,” said Street. “We also looked at revisions in the reductions in force policy that coincide with some recent court cases to be more in line. All revisions were recommended by the Indiana School Boards Association.”

Street added that changes were made to the tobacco free environment policy to include electronic nicotine devices. The student evaluation policy also got an update.

“We took a look at that and make some recommendations with standards-based report cards for kindergarten and first grade as well as retention policy and grading scale to make it consistent second grade through 12th grade with the grading policy.”

The board members approved the first reading of the policy revisions as presented.
