The pavilion next to the Winamac Parkway will soon get a few upgrades. During last week’s Winamac Park Board meeting, board member and town manager Brad Zellers said a concrete floor will be installed under the shelter, after a donor has offered to cover half of the cost. He expects the work to be completed soon.
Meanwhile, board members also approved the installation of a new ceiling, to keep birds out of the pavilion’s rafters. Zellers said the birds have been making a mess recently. “If you go look at that now, the picnic tables are covered,” he said. “I wouldn’t eat lunch on those. You could clean it, and tomorrow it’s a mess again. It’s basically almost ready, if somebody could put a tin ceiling in.”
The park board authorized up to $2,500 to be spent for that purpose, out of Park Gift Fund.
