As the North Judson Mint Festival kicks off for its 42nd Annual celebration, officials from the Hoosier Valley Railroad Museum invite festival goers to experience a leisurely train ride through the North Judson and English Lake areas.
Passengers have a choice of riding in a vintage caboose, an open-air car or a vintage commuter coach on a 10-mile round-trip ride through the country. Trains leave at 12:30 p.m. and 2 p.m. CT from the Hoosier Valley Railroad Museum on Saturday and Sunday. Tickets can be purchased ahead of time on hoosiervalley.org. It is highly recommended to buy a ticket online.
If Dad wants to experience a unique activity, half-hour and hour-long guest engineer/throttle times are available for those who hold a valid driver’s license. Appointments are necessary for this experience.
The Hoosier Valley Railroad museum admission is free and will be open all weekend from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. CT.
In other events during the opening night of the Mint Festival, the opening ceremony begins at 5 p.m., the announcement of the father/grandfather of the year at 5:15 p.m., enjoy music beginning at 5:30 p.m. and the carnival will be ongoing starting at 5 p.m.
