A presentation over possible internet upgrades was provided to North Judson Town Council members this week.
Clerk-Treasurer Andrew Rowe explained that N.I.T. Line, the company that town council members initially established an agreement with for internet services, was taken over by Fourway Computer Products.
When members met Monday night, they received a presentation from Fourway representative Roland Houin to inform them about what the company has to offer now that they’re providing services to the town.
Houin asked council members to consider upgrading the existing equipment that is installed on the town’s water tower next to Norway Field and removing any redundant or unutilized electronics to make better use of the space. He also proposed expanding coverage and increasing speed by installing equipment with the same capabilities on the West water tower.
Rowe said that a question about whether the installation of new technology would interfere with the proposed renovations to the water towers came up during the discussion.
Town Superintendent Marshall Horstmann noted that if members decide to allow the upgrades, it would be beneficial to get them installed prior to the renovation project. He said this will allow crews work around the affixed equipment, rather than completing the renovations and potentially having to redo work once the items are installed or moved around.
Town Attorney Justin Schramm was not present at the meeting, so council members decided to take the proposal under advisement refrain from making any official decisions until he has a chance to review the proposal as well.
