Three people were arrested on Monday morning after a traffic stop and a search warrant in Knox.
According to the Starke County Sheriff’s Department, deputies conducted a traffic stop on State Road 8 in Knox where a K9 reportedly alerted to the presence of narcotics. In a subsequent search of the vehicle, police allegedly found methamphetamine, narcotics, marijuana, and syringes.
Kristen Webb, 34, of Knox, was arrested on preliminary charges of possession of methamphetamine, marijuana, a narcotic, paraphernalia and a syringe. She was additionally charged with neglect of a dependent. Also arrested was Knox resident 32-year-old Joseph Givens, who was booked into the Starke County Justice Center on preliminary charges of possession of a controlled substance, methamphetamine, and paraphernalia, as well as a neglect of a dependent charge.
The outcome of the traffic stop led to the acquisition of a search warrant to search a room at the Super Value Inn in Knox. Deputies with the Marshall County Drug Unit, Starke County Sheriff’s Department and Knox City Police Department reportedly found methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia in the room. Police say 25-year-old Nichole Whitfield was present in the room during the search warrant and she was arrested on preliminary charges of possession of a controlled substance, methamphetamine, and paraphernalia. She was additionally charged with neglect of a dependent.
Child Protective Services was called to the scene to assist with placement of six children who were inside the room when police arrived to conduct the search.
