Knox Mayor Dennis Estok told city council members Tuesday night that this year’s Fourth of July event was a major success.
During the Mayor’s report, Estok told members that this was the most attended Independence Day celebration in recent years and estimated that between 4,000 and 5,000 people participated in the festivities.
He said it seemed like there was a pretty big local crowd that filtered in and out throughout the day, as well as a variety of individuals who came from out of town. He noted that he spoke to someone who made the drive all the way from Elkhart.
Estok said that this Saturday’s event reached the goal that was set out and he extended his gratitude to the people who helped make it possible.
“It’s actually done what we wanted it to do, bring in people from the outside to see our beautiful city.” Estok continued, “So I just want to thank every one of our sponsors because, without the sponsors, we couldn’t do this thing and all the volunteers who volunteered to help out because it takes a lot of volunteers.”
Aside from thanking the citizens who assisted, he also thanked the council members who lent a helping hand. You can find more information about future events planned for Knox at cityofknox.net.
