NJ Town Council Discusses Funding for a Potential Electronic Sign at the Fire Station

North Judson Town Council members recently received an update about funding for the proposed purchase of some electronic signs at the North Judson-Wayne Township Fire Station.

Fire Chief Joe Leszek told the council members last Monday that the firefighters were planning to meet in the near future to go over a feasible monetary figure that they could pledge for the sign if they decide to move forward with the purchase.

Following Leszek’s report, a letter that was received from the Wayne Township Trustee and Advisory Board was read into the record. It stated that the township officials met and came to the conclusion that they will not be providing any funds for the purchase.

With the new development, the funding for the sign will now come from the collective contributions of the Town, the department and any additional donations.

One council member candidly inquired if that meant the township’s name should be eliminated from the side of the firehouse. Chief Leszek said that isn’t something he would want to do and recognized that the township has done a lot for the department over the years. The council member noted that they thought it was a shame the township will not be contributing any money for the sign.

No decisions have been finalized but conversations about the potential purchase will continue in future meetings.
