Oregon-Davis High School has a new administrator. Chris Matthys has officially been hired as the junior/senior high school’s athletic director and assistant principal, according to Superintendent Dr. Don Harman.
Matthys replaces Greg Estok, who served as dean of students and athletic director. Harman says the difference is that the new position will require more credentials. “Mr. Matthys has his administrative license, and this will allow him to complete certain state reports,” Harman explains. “He’ll be able to evaluate teachers. He’ll be able to complete paperwork on suspension and expulsion of students. He’ll be able to lead annual case conferences. When we just had a dean of students in this role, a dean of students could not do those things.”
Matthys was one of a few new hires approved by the Oregon-Davis School Board Monday. Four teaching positions were also filled. Harman says there are still a few more hires that need to be finalized before the start of the school year.
