Only one company is permitted to use Pulaski County Roads as a bypass during a bridge project on U.S. 421. Highway Superintendent Terry Ruff told the Pulaski County Commissioners last week that he received a complaint that a trucking company other than the one permitted is using county roads as a bypass around the construction work.
The commissioners implemented a permitting process in May that would allow trucking companies to drive on the roads maintained by the county if they go before the board to seek a permit. Trucking companies who do not have a permit may not use county roads.
The commissioners were supposed to review a second permit request during their last meeting in June, but the owner didn’t attend the meeting.
Commissioner Mike McClure previously stated that he would only consider permits for Pulaski County residents.
Ruff wanted clarification on the rule and will call the sheriff’s department to monitor the area if another complaint is filed.
