Starke County EMS Director Travis Clary presented the commissioners with four quotes for a new ambulance last week.
The quotes ranged from $115,000 to $158,000. Clary said he’s looked at all of the trucks from the companies that submitted quotes. He said the lowest quote thus far comes from Medwerks/Crossroads Ambulance in Middlebury which features a remounted, refurbished box on a new 2019 E450 chassis.
Clary said he’s waiting for a couple of other quotes and will present them once they’re obtained. He said he’s asking for a basic ambulance with no added equipment.
The commissioners will make a decision soon. A new ambulance was listed on their capital projects this year and will fund the purchase.
