Starke County Commissioners to Appoint Four to Koontz Lake Conservancy District Board

The Starke County Commissioners are seeking interested candidates to serve on the five-member Koontz Lake Conservancy District Board of Directors.

County Attorney Marty Lucas said a court order gives the commissioners four appointments while one will be a Marshall County selection. The initial terms will be staggered with the first election to be held in February of 2019 as one appointment will be up for election.

The District 1 candidate will be a Koontz Lake property owner whose property abuts the lake. The District 2 candidate will be a member whose property is adjacent to Koontz Lake and the District 3 candidate will be a member who has property that does not abut to or is adjacent to the lake. Two at-large county seats are also available.

The deadline date to receive letters is Friday, July 13. The commissioners will appoint members during their regular meeting on Monday, July 16.

Send letters of interest to the Starke County Commissioners in care of the Starke County Auditor’s Office at 53 E. Mound Street in Knox. The applicant should list which seat he or she is seeking.
