Culver Town Council members hope that work can begin this year on two major Stellar Communities Designation program projects.
Town Manager Jonathan Leist said that the request for design work for the Culver Beach Lodge renovation project and the creation of the Cavalier Sports Park was advertised. When those proposals come in they will be scored and then architects can be hired and contracts awarded.
The town is currently awaiting official notification of the grant awards for the projects. The state preservation office did request environmental and historical review paperwork for the Culver Beach Lodge and that information was provided. Leist said it appears that everything is in order, but they will wait for the official letter granting the application to move forward.
Once the official notice is received, the federal procurement process can take place and time can be spent on finalizing plans and getting construction documents ready. Construction should start yet this fall.
