The North Judson Police Department is adding a new full-time officer to the force.
The Department was back down to only three full-time officers following the recent resignation of James Dulin who was hired back in November. At the request of Town Marshal Kelly Fisher, Town Council members gave permission to promote part-time officer Jamie Conklin to full-time status.
At Monday night’s council meeting, Fisher told members that Conklin was working full-time with the Starke County Sheriff’s Department and after he informs them of this promotion, he can start working for the NJPD as soon as possible. She said he is already academy trained and would be able to easily transition from the County’s department to North Judson’s force.
She mentioned that Conklin was unable to come to this week’s meeting due to a family obligation but said that he is planning to attend the next meeting on August 20th in order to introduce himself to council members and citizens. She stated that she feels Conklin will be a good asset to the Department.
