The Starke County Commissioners will discuss the courthouse elevator bid when they meet tonight.
The bids were opened on July 18 with two companies submitting figures. Michiana Contracting in Plymouth bid $337,000 with an alternate bid that would deduct about $23,500 while Gibson Lewis in Mishawaka bid $288,500 with an alternate bid that would deduct $15,000.
They were taken under advisement and the commissioners will award a bid tonight, assuming they meet the proper specifications.
Additionally, Bass Lake residents are expected to discuss the county’s anti-dumping ordinance while Building Inspector Terry Stephenson will bring forward the plan commission’s recommendation to take public nuisance out of the unsafe building ordinance.
IT Director Richard Franks will talk about the needed back-up system and Shawn Mattraw and Jennifer Strickland from Starke County Court Services will be before the commissioners to request a credit card.
Highway Superintendent Rik Ritzler and EMS Director Travis Clary and Clerk Mary Lynn Ritchie will present their regular department updates.
The Starke County Commissioners will meet at 6 p.m. CT tonight in the meeting room in the Starke County Annex Building No. 1 at 53 E. Mound Street in Knox.
