The North Judson-San Pierre School Board will hold a hearing over the 2019 Budget, as well as the Capital Projects and Bus Replacement funds when members meet tonight at 5:30 p.m.
A number of items related to the budget will also be up for adoption tonight. Members will consider adopting the 2018 General Fund and Rainy Day Fund appropriations reduction resolutions as well as the Capital Projects and Bus Replacement Plans for 2019.
Also on the docket for tonight is the adoption of an advertised budget reduction resolution as well as resolutions to establish the Education and Operation Funds, resolutions to establish the initial funding for those funds and one final resolution to transfer amounts from Education Fund to the Operation Fund.
As a reminder, House Enrolled Act 1009 was passed in 2017 and impacts all school corporations. This piece of legislation eliminates a few different accounts, including the capital projects, transportation, bus replacement and general funds and replaces them with an Education fund and an Operations fund.
The Education fund will be utilized for distributions of tuition support and can only be used for expenses related to student instruction and learning, while the Operations fund will be used to pay for non-academic expenses. Funds and levies will be consolidated here, including the transportation, bus replacement and capital projects funds.
In addition to matters related to the budget, members will also consider the corporation’s new e-Learning and metal detector policies on first reading and hear school improvement plan presentations.
The meeting will be held in the central office board meeting room, located on the NJ-SP campus.
