Knox Mayor Covers Halloween Plans with the City Council

Knox Mayor Dennis Estok issued a reminder about some upcoming Halloween festivities at last Tuesday’s city council meeting.

Mayor Estok stated that trick-or-treating hours in Knox will be on Halloween from 5:30 p.m. until 7 p.m. He added that there will be costume judging contest at the Nancy J. Dembowski Community Center once trick-or-treating ends.

He explained, “Starke [County] A.B.A.T.E puts that on for us. They handle all that, they do a great job. They get a ton of people in there and have cookies and all that stuff for the kids so we really appreciate them doing it.”

Participants in the costume contest will be divided up by age. There will be a group for babies and toddlers from 0 to 3 years old, another group for 4 to 7 year-olds, a group for children 8 to 11-years-old and the last group will be for young people from 12 to 16-years-old. A prize will also be awarded to the best group/family costumes.
