Oregon-Davis School Board Members Review Budget

The Oregon-Davis School Board members reviewed several worksheets on several aspects of the 2019 budget in a work session Thursday night.

Superintendent Dr. Don Harman said they looked at the Debt Service Fund, Capital Project, and the School Bus Replacement Plan and the process that goes with that. He said the board members will be armed with information in order to adopt the budget at their Monday, Oct. 15 meeting.

He noted that the tax increase will be in effect for next year’s budget. Property tax rates will increase 10 cents per $100 of assessed valuation.

“For example, one of the things the referendum money is to fund our Student Resource Officer,” said Dr. Harman. The referendum was specifically for operational and educational purposes.”

The Education Fund is estimated at $3 million while the Operations Fund is estimated at $3.6 million. The Referendum Fund is estimated at $625,900. With the addition of the Debt Service Fund and the Rainy Day Fund, the total estimated budget is $8.4 million.
