The Starke County Council members are expected to adopt the 2019 budget when they meet tonight.
During a public hearing held on Sept. 17, the council approved a three percent pay increase for employees pending the approval of the budget. The council may reduce that level, depending on the budget approval. That increase, if ultimately approved at three percent, would be over $200,000.
The proposed budget is nearly $12.3 million with the proposed levy at just over $5.8 million.
The council members will also adopt the budgets for the North Judson-San Pierre School Corporation, Starke County Airport, Solid Waste District and the newly-formed Koontz Lake Conservancy District.
The Cumulative Capital Development additional appropriation adoption is also on the advance agenda in addition to the monthly report from Starke County Economic Development Foundation Executive Director Larry Wickert.
The Starke County Council members will meet at 5:30 p.m. CT in the first-floor meeting room in the Starke County Annex Building No. 1 at 53 E. Mound Street in Knox.
The Starke County Commissioners canceled their regular meeting for tonight.
