Eastern Pulaski School Board Discusses Job Description for Grant Funded Position

The Eastern Pulaski School Board members discussed a proposed job description for a Graduation and Career Coach.

Superintendent Dan Foster said the position is currently grant-funded and the individual or company in the position would act as a contractor and not as an employee of the school corporation.

Graduation pathways are coming and Foster said having somebody who can track all of the student information and education plans would be beneficial. They’re hoping to have someone in the position to help design a plan and strategies for a couple of years to get everything started.

Foster noted that the current grant to help pay for the position, which is about $25,000, may not be available after 2020 so having a good start on initiating the process will help the corporation for Graduation Pathways. Even if grant funds are not available to fund this position the school would still need to have a Graduation and Career Coach in place to continue the effort as it will be a required position.

The grant funds are available now, but the position hasn’t been posted quite yet. That could change as the school board unanimously approved the Graduation and Career Coach job description as presented. Foster said the sooner a person can be put into place, the better.
