Knox Middle School is reporting success with its new after-school tutoring program. Principal Jake Skelly told the school board last week that between Math and English/Language Arts, about 44 students have been taking part.
He felt that the school corporation’s decision to offer bus transportation for students in the program has helped boost participation. Skelly estimated that more than 60 percent of the students who’ve attended ride the bus home. The school corporation recently launched the after-school intervention program at both the middle and high schools, with funding from Title I and Title IV grants.
Skelly also told the Knox School Board that Porter-Starke Services is currently working with almost 20 middle school students, as part of the Student Wise program that began this year.
