The Starke County EMS Department will purchase a second Lucas Device thanks to a generous donation from the Knox VFW Post #748.
According to EMS Director Travis Clary, the donation of $15,000 from the Knox VFW members and the VFW Auxiliary will help the department acquire another device that delivers automated chest compressions at the recommended depth and rate with no pauses.
He said the device that is currently in service has already saved several lives of those needing assistance in the Starke County area. The second device will be included as part of the equipment on another ambulance.
Clary thanks the veteran’s organization for their generosity in helping to save lives in Starke County,
