Winamac Town Council members opened bids for the Town’s garbage services contract when they met Monday night. Three bids were received by the deadline. Council President Tom Murray opened the bid and read them into the record.

Republic Services submitted a bid of $158,400 annually, for just garbage services and provided an alternate bid of $64,281.60 for recycling services.

Council members also received a bid from Local Affordable Disposal. They provided a bid of $149,616 annually and they did not provide a bid for recycling services.

The last bid opened was from Advanced Disposal who offered to do garbage services for $119,952 and recycling services for $54,691.20.

Murray noted that the figures provided are just for the first year. He told the company representatives who were present at the meeting that their bids would be taken under advisement and an official decision will be made in a future meeting.
