The Starke County Sheriff’s Department continues investigating an armed robbery at a Koontz Lake gas station Monday night. Sheriff Bill Dulin says that as of Tuesday afternoon, his department has gotten numerous tips, but so far, “nothing has produced solid information that would lead to a suspect.”
He confirms that three individuals were taken in for questioning Monday night but have since been released. Meanwhile, Dulin says detectives and uniformed officers continue to follow up on the tips they’ve received.
The alleged robbery happened around 7:30 p.m. Monday at the Marathon gas station. Several people reportedly entered the gas station wearing masks and bullet-proof vests, and robbed the store at gunpoint. Police say numerous shots were fired, before the suspects left the store and possibly fled into a wooded area.
