Culinary Arts Program Gives Presentation to Knox School Board

The Knox Community Schools Culinary Arts program was the recipient of a grant worth $1,200 from the Northern Indiana Community Foundation.  That grant money was used to purchase six stand mixers for the students to use.

Family and Consumer Sciences instructor Sherry Wakal along with 8th grade students Alex Wakal, Declan Austin, Riley Messer, and Jaelyn Goins talked about the benefits of the grant.  They also presented a short video to the board where they were in competition with each other over who could mix cream cheese and salsa faster.  Two of the students used the stand mixer to stir the ingredients while the other two mixed them by hand.  The end result found that the stand mixer mixed the ingredients better and in a more timely fashion.

The donation will help students interested in pursuing Culinary Arts.

Along with Wakal and the students, the school board expressed appreciation to the Community Foundation for the grant.
