Knox Mayor’s Office to Close Wednesday & Thursday, Trash Pick-Up Delay Expected

Due to the dangerously frigid temperatures affect our area this week, Knox City Hall will be closed on Wednesday, January 30th and Thursday, January 31st.

According to a press release from the Mayor’s Office, the closure is for the safety of residents and city employees during this extreme weather event.

Officials mentioned that trash pick-up for Thursday, January 31st, has been canceled. Pick-up will be conducted on Friday, February 1st.

It is highly recommended that residents do not venture outside when we’re experiencing extremely low temperatures, unless it is absolutely necessary. If you’re able to, check on your neighbors over the next few days, especially those who are elderly.

Additionally, be sure to bring pets indoors or make arrangements to ensure outdoor animals will be safe.

As a reminder, the City of Knox has issued a freeze warning for all water customers. Residents should leave a small stream of water running from a faucet; a bathtub faucet is recommended. Customers will be charged their average bill during this order only.

Utility and street department crews will be on stand-by. If you have a street, sewer or water department emergency, contact the Starke County Sheriff’s Office and they will notify crews immediately. You can reach the Sheriff’s Department at 574-3771.

If you have any questions, Mayor Dennis Estok can be reached at 574-772-3006.
